After working in advertising at Sony Records, he transitioned to music production and A&R at Sony Music Associated Records and SME Records. He is currently the Chief Producer of the Planning and Production Group SS Team at Aniplex.

Makoto LIANG, a pioneer in the Japanese music scene in Taiwan. With over three decades in the music industry, he has established Japanese music departments for PONY CANYON, Sony Music, and Avex Group, successfully fostering a Japanese music craze and nurturing talents in Japanese entertainment marketing. In the early 1990s, when Taiwanese TV and radio banned Japanese dramas and music, he branded himself as the "Japanese Music Information Station" and broke through the media blockade by consistently providing updates on the Japanese pop music scene to major newspapers and analyzing Japanese entertainment trends through his own column contributions. On November 15, 1993, when Taiwanese government partially lifted the ban on Japanese music, he took advantage of his position at Sony Music to introduce artists like Rie Miyazawa, Puffy, Tokyo Performance Doll, and Dreams Come True, sparking the craze for Japanese culture.
In 1998, Makoto LIANG shifted his focus to Avex Group. With a marketing approach imbued with Japanese aesthetic, he brought new artists like Ayumi Hamasaki, Kumi Koda, and Ai Otsuka to stardom in the post-TK era in Taiwan. As he rose to the position of Vice General Manager, he successfully introduced Korean pop culture to Taiwan with SM Entertainment, as well as popularized Western music icon, Mai-A-Hi. In 2015, working with Sony Music Japan, Makoto LIANG successfully promoted LiSA and SUPER EIGHT in Taiwan. By 2021, working in Muses & Nymph Entertainment, he managed AKB48 Team TP, pushing the Japanese idol concept to new heights.
