Hailing from the culturally-vibrant neighborhood of Muzha, Taipei, Hogan T. is a singer-songwriter and producer who blends songwriting, composing, and beatboxing seamlessly into one. Hogan T. cites Mac Miller and John Mayer as early musical influences and musicians that ignited his passion for music and inspired him to learn the piano, guitar, synthesizer, erhu, and other instruments. In high school, Hogan T. joined the beatbox club, where he was first given the opportunity to showcase his talent for songwriting in his graduation song – “Luggage行囊”. Hogan T. was later shortlisted in the 37th NCCU Golden Melody Awards for “Loose Faucet 把水開著”, which he created with his college band: Quaranteen. Beyond producing original music, Hogan T. also enjoys remixing music; he has taken first place at remix competitions and was noticed by two-time Grammy Award winner Kimbra, with the two later producing a remix single together.
Hogan's creations are a testament to his ability to enrapture listeners with melodies that linger in the mind long after the music fades. His skillful fusion of classical poetry, vernacular texts, and the occasional sprinkle of English phrases in his lyrics creates a tapestry of tales that resonate universally.
His musical canvas spans genres like band sound, beatbox, alternative pop, and soul/R&B, delivering a refreshing twist on pop music with a playful edge, making him the indie pop torchbearer of Zoomers. With the release of his debut album "Loose Faucet 把水開著" in September 2023, Hogan received widespread acclaim from critics and critic websites alike. StreetVoice's director, Tree Chen, hailed it as "a standout blend of indie pop and electronic elements favored by today’s hippies," securing Hogan T.'s album a spot on the coveted annual favorites list. The single "When it Rained 趁雨下" quickly rose onto Apple Music's Top 100 Songs of the Year and earned Hogan T. an “Up Next” feature. Further endorsements from KKBOX Rising Star program and Spotify RADAR underscore Hogan T.'s exceptional creative prowess, solidifying his status as a rising powerhouse in the Mandarin music scene, where his warm, velvety vocals continue to draw significant attention.
