What's New
The 31st Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will take place on October 3rd at the Main Hall of the Taipei Music Center. To help the audience know more about this year’s nominees, TTV invites singers nominated for "Best Male Vocalist (Taiwanese)", "Best Female Vocalist (Taiwanese)", "Best Vocalist (Hakka)", "Best Vocalist (Indigenous language)", "Best Musical Group", "Best Male Vocalist (Mandarin)", and "Best Female Vocalist (Mandarin)"to appear on the TV special "The Fabulous 31st GMA" to talk about their music and thoughts on being nominated. The hosts of this Special are Mary and Evan Yo, who are also the hosts on the red carpet. The nominees’ sincere and straightforward response and interesting stories are sure a great opportunity for the audience to witness the nominees’ distinctive charisma.
Nominees of Best Female Vocalist (Mandarin)--Waa Wei, Peggy Hsu, Naiwen Yang, and Joanna Wang, are invited to the show share what and how they felt upon receiving the news. Waa Wei, both a nominee and host of this year’s GMA, says she looks forward to being a host and isn’t as nervous as one would think. She also states that she will prioritize her role as a host over a nominee, and will do her best to play her part well. However, if she does win an award, she will definitely scream her way to the stage. For Peggy, she was delivering her baby when she received the news. "I don’t think anyone has had similar experience," she smilingly stated. Her nominated work, Hypnocity, was released through crowdfunding. "I want to thank my supporters for pre-ordering my album even before it has taken shape," said Peggy. Naiwen Yang, who won Best Female Vocalist (Mandarin) in 2000 with her album Silence, says she was exercising when being informed of the news. Twenty years after her first nomination, this is her second time to be nominated for the same category. "It’s not something to feel nervous about. I treat it as something normal," Naiwen said. Being nominated for five awards with her album Love is Calling Me, Joanna Wang, a nominee and performer this year, said "I want to get Best Album the most, and I hope my performance will be an enjoyable one."
Other guests of the special include G.E.M and Fish Leong. G.E.M. shared her thoughts through a videocall, saying that she was really nervous when she was nominated for several awards.
"I want to win all the awards," G.E.M. said jokingly. Being her sixth time to be nominated for this category, Fish Leong said at a pop-up interview, "Looking back, for me, insisting on singing was the right decision."
