The 34th Golden Melody Awards has recently revealed its shortlist, where a total of 314 registration units, 1,667 albums/ EP, and 24,604 works participated in the selection. The total number of participating works saw an increase of 3,883 compared to last year, of which 273 of them are physical albums, that's 27 more compared to last year; 1,181 of them digital album/EP, which is 78 more compared to last year. After a three-month review with three stages of preliminary review, qualification review, and final review, the committee came up with a shortlist of 169 works contending for 27 awards, among them POURQUOI PAS MUSIC LIMITED and Universal Music Taiwan Ltd. stole the spotlight as both are nominated with 12 categories, where "Silver Lining" produced by POURQUOI PAS MUSIC LIMITED topped the selected works as it is nominated with 8 categories. In addition, this year's Special Contribution Award is awarded to Mr. Eric Lin and Ms. FeiFei Ou-Yang.
Mr. Eric Lin is a renowned lyricist and record producer in Taiwan. Prolific throughout his lifetime, he has written countless popular and timeless songs with representative works including "I'm Still Young", "You Say You Always Love Me", "Crying Sand", "Listen to the Sea", "Dark", "Wind of Change", "Twilight", and so on. His incomparable achievement goes beyond creative field as he has also devoted into running record labels, scouring new talent, and sparing no effort in supporting new generations. His influence reaches every corner of the worldwide Mandarin pop music market. He is the driving force behind super stars, and even more so of a cross-era-and-generation all-round music professional.
Ms. FeiFei Ou-Yang is not only a superstar in the Mandarin pop music circle, but also the first Taiwanese pop singer to build a successful career in Japan as she was the first foreign singer to perform at NHK's "Red and White Song Battle" more than half a century ago. In early days, she showed the Taiwanese audience the advanced production quality in the Japanese record industry.
Throughout her career, she has stayed ahead of the curve, and her songs have echoed social sentiments and have stayed with several generations: "Stranger in Midosuji", "You and Me on the Way of Love", "Passionate Desert", "Yearning", "Hi! Hi! Taxi", "Embrace", "A Heart Full of Gratitude", and so on. Her avant-grade and ebullient performing style opened up new possibilities for the Mandarin pop music circle amid a once conservative era, exhibited cross-field influence that lasted for generations, and made her the best international musical performer model many contemporary music professionals wish to become.

Being the most representative Mandarin pop music award, the Golden Melody Awards is one of the sacred halls in Asian pop music circle, and one of the most amazing music award ceremonies around the world. This year, the Golden Melody Awards will utilize its theme "Boundless" to convey the characteristic of how music is able to break through the limit of space and time and venue as it alternates and blends together. This year is also the first time after three years to have international artists attend and perform at the award ceremony. This will also be the first time the ceremony is live-streamed on the Golden Melody Awards' YouTube channel to the audience worldwide, as we hope to promote the cross-field innovation of Taiwan's pop music circle so the glamor and touching moments of T-Music reaches every corner of the world.
The 34th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM on July 1st at Taipei Arena. We invite audience to witness prominent musicians' proud moment and cheer for the awardees at the annual event of the pop music circle. The event is live-streamed by TTV.
