The 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be held on June 29th, 2019 at the Taipei Arena. Celebrating 30 years of GMA, the organizer will be releasing one GMA Classics series short film every day starting from May 30th, 2019 on Facebook fan page (金曲GMA), Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and the official website. Re-discover all the classic moments of GMA with the fans, and counting toward the 30th anniversary of Golden Melody Awards.
Our GMA Classics series began with The Most Nervous Female Singers, collecting classic footage from Jody Chiang, Christine Hsu, Tiger Huang and many others. Taiwanese-language diva Chang Hsiu-ching once accidentally stated “so nervous! I forgot to go to the bathroom” while receiving the Best Local Dialect Female Singer award during the 6th GMA; the reigning diva of Mandarin pop songs Jolin Tsai also once withered some good-natured insults from Wu Bai on the stage, her embarrassment evident on the screen; the world famous band Mayday once gained public attention through openly eating bananas on the GMA stage. The Hungriest Category of GMA short film also revealed footages of the 16th GMA hosts Matilda Tao, Patty Hou, and Lin Chi-ling enjoying pizza during the ceremony. During the 26th GMA, Jacky Cheung gifted the then chief organizer Sky Wu a pack of sausages to smooth things over, creating the much talked about “the sausage to end enmity.” These classic footages are sure to evoke much discussion from the fans, and pave way for the 30th Golden Melody Awards.
Standing firm at 30, the Golden Melody Awards is the highest-regarded honor within the Mandarin popular music circle. With 30 years behind its back, this year’s ceremony promises to be more grandiose than any before. The awards have garnered much critical acclaim by music professionals foreign and domestic. Recently under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, GMA has further developed a series of events into the music festival, showcasing the diversity of Taiwan’s pop music scene.
These classic moments of GMA were collectively created by all the musicians, presenters, and performers involved, they encompass moments that were humorous, classic, passionate and joyful. The organizes for GMA this year released a series of 30 short films, and recapped all these amazing and moving moments of GMA in mere seconds. The footages will not only allow contemporary audience to witness mentor-level artist such as Jody Chiang, Tiger Huang and A-mei during their prime on the stage again, but also many of the big names today during their early years, including Jolin Tsai, Stefanie Sun, S.H.E., Mayday. Other GMA veterans such as Hou Hisao-hsien, Sylvia Chang, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Joey Wang, and Shu Qi also made appearances in this production, with the team endeavor to bring the fans of GMA nothing but the best quality materials leading up to GMA 30.
This year’s 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be held on June 29th, 2019 at the Taipei Arena. Organizer TTV will begin live broadcast of the Red Carpet at 5 pm and the ceremony at 7 pm on the TTV main channel. 2019 Golden Melody Awards Festival will encompass a series of events including the conference, Master Classes, Networking, Exhibition, Showcase, and GMA Heat from June 26th, 2019 to June 29th, 2019. The series will invite noted international lecturers to share their experience and conduct exchanges in Taiwan, expand strategic cooperation with international music festivals, and provide diverse music and performance styles from various country and regions.
