She admits to a certain nervousness while awaiting the results, and will be spending this time with her dog at home; The Fire EX band was nominated in 3 cateogries, but they were particularly overjoyed regarding the nomination for the best single producer category, seeing it as an affirmation from the board of judges that the Fire EX is now capable of producing a song with from scratch; this is the Chairman's eighth nomination for the best musical group category, however vocalist Wu Yung-chi admits that they still feel “a bit of a tingling” upon receiving the news.
It took five years for Xiao Yu to unveil his new work, and it was immediately acknowledged by the panel of judges with a nomination to the best mandarin male vocalist category. For this, Xiao stated that his gratefulness to the judging panel cannot be expressed in mere words; Haor is definitely the black horse of this GMA, nominated to the best mandarin male vocalist category, Haor stated that he did not expect to be included in the nomination;
when asked regarding the song “O _love” written by Jerry Li, best mandarin female vocalist nominee Amuyi stated that even though the song is composed of a mere eight sentences, it still very directly relate our relationship with love in a way that is very true to life.
The album Begin the Second Half chronicles the story of Fire EX's members’ youth and growth. They shared the original motivation for producing such an album – that of their first stadium concert in Taiwan to exceed 10,000 people in late 2016. The fact that their song Southbound Night Bus was also nominated in the song of the year category gave them an additional uplifting boost. Vocalist Sam Yang expressed that while their last nomination can be attributed to the political atmosphere of the times, and they still felt quite luck, been nominated this time felt a lot more deserving; the Chairman will appear on the show alongside their nominated album The Offering, which attempt to mix traditional Chinese music with rock, and create something entirely different through this East-West hybrid. Bass player Lin Ta-chun mentioned that the recording process of this album was not an easy one, since traditional Chinese music sounded too “clean” in a studio, cannot replicate the “liveliness” of an outdoor setting, consequently certain instruments required recording in specific temples or other outdoor locations. Lin also shared an embarrassing story on how he lagged for almost two years behind during the press conference announcing the nomination for this year's Golden Melody Awards.
