Chick en Chicks
CNCS, a Taipei-based electro synth pop duo formed in 2015, features vocalist Kartina and producer Mr.G.
Kartina has been in Taiwan since she graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music UK. Having grown up in the UK and Hong Kong, her mixed cultural experience has brought something unique into her musical ideas and vocal performance. Mr. G is a producer who spent three years on designing just one synth sound, epitome of scrupulousness.
The group experiments and integrates field recordings and samples into their music, which forms a refreshing yet distinctive, solid base for Kartina's powerful vocals, and expensive sounds that may penetrate your ears.
Starting at the end of 2016, CNCS has attended numerous music events across Taiwan and overseas, including Asia Rolling Music Festival, LongHuMen, Simple Life Music Festival and many other live house performances.
Following their positive reviews from the critics, such as the first single 'Camel Toe' from Spinnin' Records, their first album "Beat Maker" debuted on 25th July, 2019. The album gained the group's first success- winning "Best Vocal Group" from the 31st Golden Melody Awards and nomination of "Best Album of the Year" and "Best Electronic Album" by Goldin Indie Melody Awards 2021.
UZA&SHANE
UZA&SHANE debuted in December 2017 with their EP ""UZA&SHANE"". They are an electronic singer-producer duo, performing in various platforms throughout Asia's cultural capital, Seoul.
UZA&SHANE present their own unique music that spans genres such as Synth pop, House and Electronica. They are a team which is widely known for their songwriting skills and vibrant performances that throwback to the days of Synth Pop.
They have a soft but strong beat, a rich synthesizer sound, and they top it off with a sensuous melody. UZA&SHANE create with two sharply different producers. UZA brings the dreamy emotions and Shane comes in with a sensibility based on house & pop music.
They create music that flows perfectly together. Their musical strengths intertwine with each other. Their lyrics contain metaphors on the movements of positive instruments. The music that they create, keeps their audiences intrigued throughout. This is the charm of UZA&SHANE.
JADE
JADE, a two-man band from Taiwan, formed in 2018. With their sophisticated music style and strong musical personality, JADE was nominated for "Best New Artist" and "Best Musical Group" at the 30th Golden Melody Awards 2019 for their debut album "NEMO". Being one of the few two-man bands in Taiwan, JADE's distinguished stage presence and their professional music production, make them impossible to be classified into any music genre. In fact JADE is about to create a new music genre of their own.
While the audience is immersed in their breathtaking stage performances, JADE will keep on inspire and excite as many people as possible with their creativity and passion.
Beny Esguerra and New Tradition Music
Beny Esguerra and New Tradition Music fuses bilingual socially-conscious spoken word, beatboxing, Indigenous kuisi bunsi flute (aka Colombian gaita), turntablism, and Bronx-style 70s salsa, alongside Afro-Cuban and Colombian secular and religious drumming.
Led by Juno-nominated multi-instrumentalist, educator and activist Beny Esguerra, New Tradition Music delivers an interactive multidisciplinary performance which fuses ancient and contemporary instruments and incorporates dance, live painting and hip hop to explore themes of justice, environmental healing and respect for ancestors and land treaties.
Northside Kuisi, the group's third LP is a carefully-woven song cycle of 12 compositions chronicling an archeological dig in the distant future where traditional instruments from North and South America, alongside a vinyl disc containing encrypted information from the year 2021 are unearthed.
OSN
OSN, a rapper from Taipei.
OSN went to the U.S. for college after high school, but the unfamiliar environment and lack of friends made this the loneliest time of OSN’s life. He expressed himself through song-writing during that time and it became the start of his foray into music. By the end of 2018, OSN started dropping songs online sporadically which generated buzz and garnered a reputation for the young rapper.
In 2019, OSN dropped his first album, "#osnrap", and created a shock wave across the Chinese-language music scene. It became an instant hit and could be found playing in all the streets and shops of Taiwan. His smooth rap and catchy verses propelled his album to unexpected heights and OSN became a major player in the Chinese-language music scene.
"#osnrap" won the Best New Asian Artist Mandarin Award at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards, 2019 Spotify Album of the Year, 17th Hito Best New Artist Award, and 15th KKBOX Top 10 Hot Singers of the Year. The album was also nominated for the Best Hip Hop Album at the 10th Golden Indie Music Awards and secured OSN a nomination as Best New Artist at the 31st GMAs. The catchiest hit, “Without You”, took the Chinese-language music scene by storm. The song has stayed on top of the daily list of most-streamed Chinese-language songs on KKBOX for over five months and was nominated for Song of the Year at the 31st Golden Melody Awards.
