The 31st GMA came to a successful close on October 3rd. Although held amid the Covid-19 epidemic, well-prepared epidemic control measures peppered with crafty details were in place at the GMA. For instance, the nominees were exempt from face masks in the waiting area that is sectioned off by transparent dividers so that the cameras were also able to capture their reactions. Moreover, each nominee and presenter was given special face covers with their names stitched on it. The host Waa Wei served as the director for epidemic control in a short video for raising awareness. Netizens praised Waa Wei's costume, saying, "Yeah, that's my perfect epidemic control director!" and the GMA for its creativity in making such an interesting video that also kept up with current events.
Apart from the nominees and presenter's epidemic control measures, certain measures were also employed on the audience's side. With a non-transferable ticket system put in place, ticket holders must show the staff their paper ticket and proof of purchase on their phone, put their face masks on, and have their body temperature taken before entering the venue. Also, the audience must put on their face masks at all times throughout the event. The GMA was meticulous in its epidemic control measures, and their efforts paid off as the event came to a successful close.
