The 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 29th at the Taipei Arena. Indigenous singer Abao, the creative ZiXuan and Slow Train, and EggPlantEgg were invited as guest performers for this year's GMA (Golden Melody Awards & Festivals). The three performing groups are “gold-plated” musicians that will be showcasing their musical creativity on the GMA stage and channeling Taiwan's exuberant vitality by performing in their unique native languages. Abao is the only female singer in this performance and she believes that the audience will be able to hear the sparks from the fusion of different languages in Taiwan and modern music styles. Lead singer, ZiXuan, of Zixuan and Slow Train says coyly that, “the songs are great and we will compete with each other. Traditional folk activities will also be present throughout our performance so it's a very Taiwanese performance!” EggPlantEgg's lead singer, Ng Ki-pin, reveals that their signature solo will still remain and asks everyone to look forward to the easter egg.
As this is her first time on the GMA stage, Abao admits that she's excited and nervous, but she remains optimistic, “other than practicing to overcome the anxiety, eating also helps stabilize my mood.” ZiXuan excitedly mentions that they received an invitation at the beginning of the year but had to keep it a secret. Now they can finally share the good news with everyone. EggPlantEgg took the GMA stage before as Best New Artist but band member A-der Hsieh believes that they can do better this year thanks to the performance experience they've accumulated since then. A-ren Tsai also said that, “of course we're going to be nervous but we won't be able to improve if there aren't any challenges.” As for their performance, the three groups have different presentation styles, but despite never having collaborated before, they're surprisingly in tune with each other during their discussions. ZiXuan also expresss that “this may be our first collaboration, but a musician's flair needs no explanation!”
Abao reveals that a part of the performance was co-created by the three groups, laughing that, “the organizer is incredibly brave for letting us perform a song that we wrote the first time we met. They gave us a lot of freedom.” EggPlantEgg members, who are also nominated for Song of the Year, express in unison that whether its performing on stage or waiting for the big reveal, they're all “super anxious.” As to taking home another GMA, they believe that “blessings from our family and friends as well as us being together is the greatest blessing.”
The 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be held on June 29th at the Taipei Arena. The red carpet event and the ceremony will be broadcasted respectively at 16:50 and 19:00 on TTV. The award ceremony will also be broadcasted on Hami Video, TOUCH TTV, YouTube, MOD, UFO Radio, StarHub (Singapore), Astro (Malaysia) and Tencent Video (Mainland China). Reruns of the ceremony will be available on TTV Main Channel, TTV General Channel, Unique Satellite Television, Unique Business News and Unique Satellite TV (USTV) Business Channel after the live broadcast as well. Through these platform, people around the world can watch the ceremony.
The 2019 GMA Festival will also host a slew of events including an Conferences, Biz Matching Center, Exhibition, Showcase, GMA Heat, etc. Prominent international speakers will be invited to share their experiences and interact at the GMA events. GMA will also expand its strategic alliance with major music festivals around the world so the audience will be able to listen to different music and performance styles coming from different regions and countries.
