“GMA TALK” of the “2017 Golden Melody Awards and Festival” was held at ATT SHOW BOX on June 11th. Jam Hsiao said that although he’s quite nervous, he had a lot to share with everyone. The three topics of the seminar included “production techniques and inspiration”, “teaching about voice and vocal resonance”, and “advance piano techniques”. Jam hoped to teach everyone to understand music in the most natural way. For the seminar this year, Mickey Huang was the host once again. Mickey commented that Jam Hsiao was very diligent and was still confirming the schedule right up to the morning. Jam hoped that he’ll be able to share music production with more musicians and music professionals through the Golden Melody Awards and Festival.
Jam hoped that he would be able to share his thoughts on music with everyone in a way that is easy for all to understand. At the very beginning, he spent quite a bit of time sharing a story. He shared that he hadn’t learned piano when he was young and this came as a surprise to many with many asking how he has achieved what he has. Mickey Huang commented that this encouraging opening was very touching and it was hard to imagine that Jam, who spoke very little in the beginning, was now able to share a seven minute long story with everyone. Mickey expressed that he was nostalgic of the old Jam Hsiao! During the seminar, Jam shared with everyone previously unreleased demos and commented that the music in the demo was all done based on intuition. He also demonstrated his “secret” production technique live. In the two hour seminar, he not only played the piano, produced on the spot, but also shared many music production techniques. In addition, he also went offstage and interacted with the audience to produce music, winning much applause and laughter. Jam also shared that he is able to continue to pursue music because he is passionate towards music and that music is the only thing that is able to calm his mind and help him overcome his fear.
Jam Hsiao’s band, “Lion” has also been nominated for this year’s “Best Musical Group”. Jam expressed that he and his band members were all very excited and said that winning would be a sure sign of recognition. However, it’s all just a process. More importantly, he told his members that during the ceremony, all nominees’ faces would be filmed, so they should pay attention to their facial expressions. They should remember to smile and be gentlemanly and well-mannered. If they have to look their best while thinking that they won’t win, then when they do win the happiness will be multiplied!
