In the upcoming 2017 Golden Melody Awards ceremony, nominee for Best Male Vocalist - Mandarin this year, Yoga Lin, is invited to perform. As a nominee and performer, he is particularly excited this year. When asked about how adjust between two roles, “I’ll probably dress up. If I look great, I’ll feel great and give everyone a great show,” he smiles. As this performance will integrate 3D scanning and holographic projection, it would be especially challenging to the performer to walk between virtual and reality. “I have to be precise in every move, every expression and every second, in order to seamlessly connected to these effects,” says Lin. “After so many preparations and rehearsals, the result will be amazing.” This fascinating show is designed by theatrical and visual director Tung-Yen Chou. Praised as “a theatrical and visual poet”, he points out that “compared to other performances that evening, this performance will be more poetic. We hope Yoga’s voice will lead us into a dream, and present the emotions between songs and stories”.
After nine years, Yoga Lin will perform on the same stage again. For this performance, he collaborates and brainstorms with Director Chou. Chou decides to adapt his previous theater work, Lightyear Stories, on this stage. It’s an international project with production teams from Denmark over two years that involve theater and technology. Lin also finds theater mysterious, so he’s delighted to participate. “I always think theater is full of energy,” says Lin. “I’m so happy to work with this outstanding director. This performance will enrich the song and the scenario. I believe the result will be surprising. It’s such a pleasure to collaborate with Chou this time.” The production team uses 3D scanning and holographic projection technologies to visualize scenarios in the song. In order to achieve certain effects on screen, Chou adjust some elements in the original design. He finds it exciting and challenging at the same time. “I’m grateful the Golden Melody Awards is willing to embrace challenges,” says Chou. “It’s quite difficult to create holographic projections at such a large stage. We are anxious, but looking forward to it as well.”

The 28th Golden Melody Awards ceremony will be grandly held at Taipei Arena on June 24th. Taiwan Television Company will broadcast live at the red carpet at 5PM and ceremony from 7PM on TTV channel.
