Sticky Rice
Started 20 years ago during the Taiwan Mandopop era, Taipei’s Sticky Rice Band broke the mold to bring a unique, captivating and creative sound and show that is second to none. Eschewing the standard glossy slick packaging of the typical Asian pop band, Sticky Rice Band keeps true to the indie band core that brought them into the mainstream. With a witty and humorous take of mundane world experiences, songwriter Mars, connects to a diverse following looking for more than your standard studio love song. Add to this a high energy live show complete with outrageous costumes and electric back and forth with the audience, makes for a loyal group of fans. As one fan said “I’m so happy to share the music of my youth with my children”. After 15 long years, the first new “Do not rush to love me forever” album was released April 2017. Without major label promotion or marketing, the 20th anniversary concert was sold out and over 800 copies were sold in two weeks. These four bandmates aren’t old, just well aged to keep the listeners rocking for more.
