2016-5-05 Taipei, Taiwan - The 2016 Golden Melody Awards Event Ambassador was officially announced yesterday. Eason Chan, a multi-Golden Melody winner and last year’s Best Mandarin Male Singer, will take on the role this year. “I’m really honored to have been named the Event Ambassador. The Golden Melody Awards bring together a wide range of musicians despite their busy schedules, allowing everyone to see all types of music including Indigenous, Hakka, Taiwanese and Mandarin pop music. I’m glad to be given this opportunity to promote the Golden Melody Awards.” When asked about his Best Mandarin Male Singer win last year, Eason responded modestly, “I’m lucky. Winning the Golden Melody was such a wonderful journey, along with so many attendees of the awards ceremony including those I do and do not personally know. It has been a great honor since the nomination, and I was very nervous before the final result came out. I think the fact that the win has encouraged me to keep moving forward is the biggest reward for me.” Eason will be working on a new album this year. He thought that A-Mei’s album “Amit” inspired him greatly: “Songs should be just as energetic, avant-garde and open for imagination as the Amit songs. I always try to consider all sorts of elements when selecting my songs. I hope that my new album that’s coming out next year will bring nice surprises.” This year’s promo video was directed by Golden Melody’s Best Music Video award winner, Jude Chen. Chen explained the meaning behind the video’s theme “music is possible”: “Music is magical yet realistic. One can feel it by listening and even by touching, since sound can be transmitted in different forms, such as the sound of winds blowing through the forest.” He also described the idea behind the main shots of the video: “Since Eason is very familiar with a concert hall’s backstage, I wanted him to shoot this promo video by connecting the image of climbing up the backstage staircase and the sounds that present the idea of speed.” Eason also shared his thoughts about the promo video. “I can’t live without music. Music can comfort anyone going through hardships. In fact, music is needed by anyone in any mood,” he said. Eason has also collaborated with director Chen multiple times. “Chen’s videos are exquisite, because he is highly sensitive and extremely detailed-oriented. We can easily understand each other without too many explanations. I always try to feel out what he is trying to present,” said Eason. “He leaves artists room to be creative, only providing his ideas when he feels inspired at times.” Eason is very happy about collaborating with director Chen. Last year’s Golden Melody Awards ceremony was well-received. This year, the 27th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will take place on June 25th at Taipei Arena. The Red Carpet starting 5pm and the Ceremony starting 7pm will be broadcasted live on TTV Main Channel by Taiwan Television Enterprise, the event’s executive organizer. Rebroadcast will be aired on TTV’s digital channel. The 2016 Golden Melody Festival will take place on June 22nd through June 24th at hotel Humble House Taipei. The Festival is a 3-day B2B event that brings together industry representatives from a range of fields including but not limited to cinema, television, telecommunication, gaming and digital technology. It aims to facilitate cross-border and cross-industry business matching opportunities through its series of events: Conference, Business Matching Center, Pitching, Speed Meeting, Exhibition, Showcase, GMA Talk, Workshops and Golden Melody Academia.
