The 32nd Golden Melody Awards kicks off on August 21st at the Taipei Music Center. The ceremony will gather a glamorous party of renowned talents in the music industry representative of diverse music genres. Singers and bands including Abao (Alijenljeng), Wing, Julia Peng, Fire EX., Nicky Lee, Chih Siou, Shi Shi, and YELLOW are highly anticipated for their performances at the ceremony. On August 16th, a list of guest award presenters was announced which includes Matzka, ØZI, Owen Wang, Misa, Wu Qing-Feng, Luantan Ascent, Abao (Alijenljeng), Austin Lin, Yoga Lin, May Sun, Spark Chen, Edward Chen, Sandee Chen, Peggy Hsu, Wan Fang, Waa Wei, Daniel Lo, and Tarcy Su.
Abao (Alijenljeng) made an incredible impression last year winning in three categories, Best Aboriginal Album, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. Thrilled to be performing at the ceremony the second year in a row, she will be singing songs in her indigenous mother tongue as a firm believer that music is the best language. “I received immense support throughout different groups last year. This year, I’d like to amplify the momentum and reach beyond groups with the help of music. I want everyone to be able to feel the same”, said Abao. She intends to bring her best to all aspects of her performance, “whether in the rhythm, power or cohesion, the energy is going to be off the charts”. It will be an international-level feast of music and art performed at Taipei Music Center designed to overwhelm the audience with enriching sensations. There are also challenging new attempts involved for Abao this time. “It is pretty complicated as we try out a new way of performing. I hope that we can convey the power of unity through music, visual display, and physical expression”.
Former Golden Melody Best Male Vocalist Wing and Best Female Vocalist Julia Peng are invited to sing soothing melodies at the ceremony. The over 20-year-old Fire EX. will be hitting the stage with their signature gig featuring a music festival vibe. Nicky Lee, the king of love songs, will be singing heartfelt songs flooded with emotions. Winner of last year’s Best New Vocal, Chih Siou will bring to the stage his enchanting voices in his “cool” stage presence. Shi Shi and YELLOW, two forceful new-generation music talents have prepared an ultimate vocal and visual feast as well.
Tarcy Su, who finally released a new album last year after thirteen years, is both a nominee and an award presenter this year. Asked if she has the confidence to win, Tarcy humbly stated, “It’s my first nomination in my 31-year career as a singer. It’s truly uplifting! I appreciate the judges for the huge encouragement. I think all people striving in the music industry are offering companion and comfort to society with their music, and for that, everyone deserves a ceremonious encouragement”. Yoga Lin, the acclaimed music talent who has been quiet for a while, will also be presenting awards at the 32nd Golden Melody Awards. Asked about the status of his new album, he implied that it is still underway. He remained hard-working at home during the pandemic, which took a toll on his health, so he took some time off to recuperate. He looked forward to seeing everyone at the ceremony. Austin Lin, the former winner of the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor, is a first-time award presenter at the Golden Melody Awards. He said with glee, “I had never pictured myself participating in the Golden Melody Awards, and I really look forward to the ceremony this year”. Austin had a music collaboration with aoi, the nominee for Best New Vocal this year, so people are curious about whether he will be releasing his own music work someday. Austin replied, “it was such a pleasure collaborating with aoi, and I sure look forward to being able to release my music in the future”.

The 32nd Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will take place on Aug. 21st (Sat.) at the Main Hall of the Taipei Music Center. The whole event is not open to the public; however, the Red Carpet will be broadcasted live on TTV starting from 5:00 P.M. and Awards Ceremony will start from 7.00 P.M.. Full replay of the ceremony will also be aired on TTV Main Channel, TTV General Channel, USTV News Channel, and USTV Business Channel. The livestream and replay will also be aired on LINE TODAY, LINE MUSIC, LINE TV, and LINE TODAY will provide “multi-angled” services, giving the audience more choices.
